I was quite amazed by the amount of work and detail Microsoft, Bungie, and 42 Entertainment put into hyping their fans for the release of Halo 2. Most people do not know that part of their marketing scheme was a website called "
I Love Bee's" that was taken over by a rampant AI much like that of Cortona in the first Halo. Each week the developers and who ever else that was involved would upload riddles and puzzles to the website. These puzzles often consisted of pictures or recordings that had words or other recordings/pictures embeded in them and AI syntax that was posted all around the website to make it look like a computer program had actually hacked the site and took complete control. It was the players job to look at the page source to retrieve these clues, which also meant a certain amount of them had to actually go to public pay phones in certain cities to received random calls that were actors giving them information.
The whole objective of this was to find voice recordings that told a side story that were related to the first and second Halo. Unfortunately for me, I didn't get involved until close to the launch of Halo 2, so I missed out on a lot of details concerning AI and the other characters involved.
I will forever remember this because of the reality of actors interacting with their fans and such.
