When writing, I think a major component in style is the audience. I've never intentionally tried to form my style into something, although it does change with the audience, but I think that change unintentional and involuntary, for me, at least. The style changes for the audience, I think, in some aspects but the voice of the author should still be heard. For example, writing an email to a teacher and writing a message to a friend, would not sound the same, but I think, if the two were compared to each other, it would be obvious that both came from the same writer.
