I googled Lil Wayne online. It had several pictures of him with his various tattoos and the headlines of controversy and drug addiction. This deals with my topic because i based some of it on these vary facts. He is a controversial figure, but overall his mass appeal cancels out the bad people see in him. The pictures of him on the website can have several meanings: addiction, outcast, fame, fortune, artist, but the headline depicts how the viewer percieves the message the writer has put on the image much like my paper.

For my website, i chose the Fable 2 launch center on ign.com. My topic is about video game magazines, and the cover article features Fable 2. The launch center has a timer counting down to the game's release, as well as photo and video galleries. There is also a list of videos on the launch page that shows assorted aspects of gameplay or interviews with the creator. The use of visuals on this page help to make it more interesting to look at, and help show what all of the videos are about. I feel that this site shows a great deal of accurate and up-to-date news on the topic. The creator of the site obviously put alot of care into making it, as they knew that their target audience would be expecting something of high quality

My topic for my paper is extremely broad and covers several different subjects, so i'll choose one to write about. The one I'm choosing is the Florida State University's website. FSU's website is a place where anyone, student, teacher, alumni, or prospective student, can go to find information about the school. The page is really easy to navigate and the pictures and other images make the page flow well. The link buttons and pull down menus allow you to cruise around the page with ease. The color scheme is Garnet and Gold. Along with the crest of FSU, the three torches are placed in easily seen places on the website to grab your attention and make you ponder their meaning. I think that myspace and facebook acurately depict me as a person, as much as a website can. There's no way you can get to know someone through a website.

My paper relates the the visual content of the newspaper. The link above is connected to the newspaper back where I'm from. This website really shows how visuals and text interact. The first thing you see is a the bold headline and a picture. The site provides differnet tabs for each section of the newpaper. When you click one of the tabs, more articles are given to choose from. You can click on really anything to read more about the subject. Different colors are seen right away as you go onto the site. It is some what coded with major healdines in blue and less important articles in black. I think this is a clever technique used by Tampa Tribune to distinguish what the major topics are. The colors catch a reader's eye right when they view the page. Many websites use color and font size, like this one, to advertise and promote different things.

If I was going to design a website about my topic i would focus more on movie clips and pictures more so than text to depict my point. In order to keep the site simple, i would use as few words as possible and use color and layout to help identify the tone or mood to the reader. I think myspace and facebook are somewhat accurate because most people are honest about their likes and dislikes and opinions, they can be misleading when they are over-critisized because they are simple web-pages that are essentially a brief memoir/photo-album of an individuals life. Because these sites are so brief they can't be too specific, so that would obviously affect their overall accuracy. And of course people are usually biased when they talk about themselves. Images can achieve more rhetorical goals because they can change the context of the words about them, they can show an opinion or point of view much easier and more clearly than words can. Words are appropriate when a more specific or fact-based arguement is being presented. In a stronger arguement words will provide more defense then a picture would.

My essay is about the visual and textual interactions that the Anheuser-Busch company uses. I looked up Budweisers website to view the content and graphic designs. The website is really cool and interactive. You can click on a bunch of different topics and learn and explore the site. Also, the way that myspace and facebook depict you is all up to you and how you design it and what information you decide to put, just like a real company. The graphic design of all websites it the way it draws you in and catches your attention. I think it is the most important thing to catch the readers attention. I feel like images make a bigger impression than words do. They intrigue the reader and make you want to read the text. Pictures are the most important.

This is a website all about Dr. Seuss that is rendered toward children. The entire website is representative of the way the images in his books look. It contains a place to play interactive games based on Dr. Seuss classics, a biography, a place to purchase books and upcoming events involving Dr. Seuss and events promoting reading. When navigating around, in between each page there is a page that comes up while the next one is loading that has a random quote from a Dr. Seuss classic. The visuals, text and layout of this website all come together to look like a page from a Dr. Seuss book. 

Rhetorically, an image can display a thought, but in my opinion, a word can make that thought more specific. As far as choosing a medium that is appropriate, I think the best thing to do is to consider the audience. Obviously, when the audience consists of children, like the case of Dr. Seuss, images are a must to help the reader understand and grasp the ideas being presented. I can't think of a situation that a visual would hinder the author's purpose or detract from the text. If the visual is presently correctly, it should, if anything, further emphasize what is presented in the text.

Seeing how my topic is on the relation between the image of book covers and the actual text, I choose to use this blog. The posts show readers what other people think are good book covers along with one that aren’t so good. I picked this because part of my paper talks about how the image of a book's cover is often what draws a reader into it. The image has to be a strong to spark the reader’s interest. This blog shows that the image of a cover really does make a difference; one post even makes a comment about the illustrations of the cover.

If I were to design a web page related to my topic, it would definitely consist of a lot of different pictures, to display how pictures can have different meanings. For example, I would compare the feelings of a black and white picture to those of a regular color picture. Some pictures would have captions and others wouldn't this would show me what kind of interpretations other people have about certain pictures. I think web pages and pictures can be misleading. Some of the images on a web page may display one thing, but it may not be accurate. My favorite artist does have a Myspace page. On his page is pretty much pictures of himself, not really anything to portray meaning or a certain emotion. I think that colors, text and layout design help people to get a better understanding of something. The color of an image portrays a certain meaning and changes the mood of the image, and colors also do the same. Images, in my opinion, help illustrate what words are saying, and when there are no words, you can interpret an image any way you want.

The topic of my paper is (or will be once I get all my thoughts together) is September 11, 2001. The website posted above is a website meant to help children understand what happened on 9/11. The facts are correct but not very exact. Instead of saying the exact number, it estimates. The colors of the whole page are red, white, and blue, the most obvious point of patriosism the article contains. For a child this is a great page. It gives them a general idea of the events without burdening them with too much information. Although the page is pretty crowded with other links and whatnot it is it is still appealing to the eye. It’s important that the people realize that webpage’s can be created by anyone, with different opinions and incorrect facts. Facebook and Myspace are created by that person themselves and therefore are only reflective of what the person wants the world to think of them. Anything else can be deleted. Take pictures for example, an attractive picture can be deleted and the one in a million shot of a not so attractive person actually looking good is put up and therefore the world think they are good-looking. Misleading. Pictures are different in words. Words give you straight facts. Usually people cannot argue with facts and therefore they are important. Pictures however give emotion, something words may have trouble evoking. The pictures give the words meaning and they are dependent on each other.

My topic is John Lennon, and who he was not only as the voice of the 60's-70's, but also still manages to keep his ideas preserved through his music and the people he surrounded. On top of that who John Lennon was as an image to the peace movements of the time and still today. 

Above I added three links, the myspace links is a music link and that image shows the psychedelic kind of feel that John Lennon was into, despite the message. The text is basically the chronological order of how his music was released. 

The second link is directed more towards his peace movement and the things he believed and said. The thing to point out in these two links so far is that if you knew nothing about him, you wouldn't know from the myspace link he was a peace activist at first and vise versa from the second link. 

The third link is more of an all inclusive site that dedicates itself to all parts of John's life including his family. Each link has an example of the type of style he was into at that time in their own way just separately.

I chose rolling stone magazine's view on the Beatles because rolling stone is so well known for their documentation of rock and roll history. The focal point of the web page is a picture of the 4 Beatles standing in black suits in front of the American flag. While this hints to the fact that the Beatles were a big hit in America, it is misleading to people who may be new to the "fab 4". The Beatles only spent a few short years living in the U.S., and all 4 grew up in Liverpool, England. Also, the 4 looked much more clean cut and their clothing is very conservative in this picture. Only the signature beatles haircuts give away their rebellious nature.Rolling Stone surely used this visual text to support written text, which opens with an examination of the Beatles impact on western culture. While these two texts seem to to together well, the visual text alone could be quite misleading. Finding a more accurate representation of the Beatles took some digging, but Rolling Stone did have other visual texts which showed the fab 4 in another light.
